Rep. Barbara Hernandez Announces $1.7 Million in Back to Business Grants for Her Community

AURORA, Ill. – Following an influx of new funding for rejuvenating businesses in districts across Illinois, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, called attention to $1.7 million dollars in grant opportunities for local businesses in her community.

“Businesses have struggled throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and many continue to do so,” said Hernandez. “I look at the businesses in my district that have received awards and I see small restaurants, family-owned businesses and businesses that have not received any help at all. Thank you, Governor Pritzker, for helping those that need it most.”

Back to Business grants are designed to support businesses hit hard by the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. $1.7 million in funding is designated to 28 local businesses in Hernandez’s district which have demonstrated a need for assistance.

Hernandez has already shown her commitment to supporting small business owners in her community with numerous votes in favor of bridge loans, property tax reform and emergency housing assistance.

“A resurgence in Illinois’ small businesses will provide the foundation for years of economic growth in our state,” Hernandez said. “My priority is getting our community back to work as quickly as safety will allow. These grants will doubtless speed that process and ease the burdens many small business owners are facing.”
