CHICAGO – State Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, partnered with Alderman Howard Brookins Jr., Cook Community Commissioner Stanley Moore, Walmart and Rehoboth Apostolic Worship Center for the Annual 21st Ward Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway.
“Before the pandemic many families in our community were already struggling, and it’s only become worse,” said Slaughter. “As community leaders, it falls on us to make sure that the neediest among us are taken care of this holiday season.”
The Annual 21st Ward Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway was held at Pastor Yolanda M. Hunt’s Rehoboth Apostolic Worship Center, located at 9130 S. Vincennes in Chicago, in partnership with Cook County Commissioner Stanley Moore, Alderman Howard Brookins Jr., and Walmart. Through the combined effort, over 300 turkeys were given to needy families in the community. Participants received their turkeys through a socially distanced drive-thru.
“It is much better to give than receive, and I encourage everyone who is able to give a bit of their time or other resources to help brighten someone’s day during this holiday season,” said Slaughter. “After losing so much during the pandemic, I know that the only way we can get through this is together.”
