Yang Rohr Encourages Community to Shop Local Ahead of Small Business Saturday

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, D-Naperville, is asking residents to consider patronizing local small businesses throughout the community on this upcoming Small Business Saturday.           

“Many small businesses are still trying to get back on their feet after experiencing the economic hardships brought on by the pandemic,” said Yang Rohr. “Small businesses are a vital part of our local economy, and when we invest in our local small businesses, the more we invest in our own community.”

Small Business Saturday is a shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which falls on Saturday, Nov. 20 this year. The holiday is intended to act as a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday in order to encourage shoppers to visit brick and mortar businesses that are small and local.

Yang Rohr was a strong advocate for small businesses this past legislative session. She helped pass a fiscally and socially responsible budget that focused on relief and recovery to help small businesses rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic. She also worked to create new Back to Business grants for employers, invested in local economic redevelopment, waived fees on businesses hit hardest by the pandemic and expanded ways hospitality businesses can operate safely.

“Small businesses continue to need our support as they compete with large corporations,” said Yang Rohr. “As we approach the largest shopping weekend of the year, I encourage everyone to explore the great shops in the 41st District to help to build a stronger community and a stronger Illinois.” ​
