Hurley to Provide Free Diabetes Screenings

CHICAGO, Ill. – As part of her Mental Health Monday’s Series, state Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, is hosting a free diabetes screening event on Monday, Nov. 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“November is National Diabetes Awareness Month,” said Hurley. “According to the Center for Disease Control, 34.2 million people in the United States have diabetes with 7.3 million of those people not even knowing they have diabetes. Getting screened annually for diabetes is crucial to ensuring that a person receives the best possible medical care in preventing any diabetes-related illnesses.”

Hurley, in partnership with state Rep. Kelly Burke, D-Chicago, is hosting a diabetes screening event on Nov. 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lake Katherine Nature Center Building located at 7402 W. Lake Katherine Dr. in Palos Heights. Advocate Health medical professionals will be on hand to provide blood glucose screenings, answer questions, and provide referrals if necessary.
