Slaughter Encourages Local Organizations to Apply for Community-Based Violence Prevention Grant

CHICAGO – To address the needs of local organizations that strive to make their communities safer and less violent, state Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is encouraging them to apply for the 2021 Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention (CB-VIP) grant program. 

“Our community cannot depend solely on the police to make their lives safer,” said Slaughter. “Anyone with an organization that is committed to doing the work to clean up our streets should definitely apply for this opportunity.”

The CB-VIP grants are an initiative of the Illinois Criminal Justice Authority and are part of Illinois’ plan to combat growing violence over a two year period. The grant will award organizations that work in violence prevention and education or intervention with a grant ranging from $50,000 to $200,000.
