OTTAWA, Ill. – Continuing his efforts to support economic growth in the Illinois Valley, state Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, is highlighting a $1.99 million dollar grant given to the Ottawa YMCA from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DECO).

“This Rebuild Illinois investment leverages $18 million to expand community space, access to healthcare and recreation for residents across the Illinois Valley,” said Yednock. “The Ottawa YMCA will revitalize the riverfront by bringing a much-needed community center near the heart of the city, building on everything that makes Ottawa a great place to live and raise a family.”

The Rebuild Illinois Regional Economic Development Program, from DCEO, provides grants totaling over $75 million to fuel continued economic growth in communities while also creating new jobs. The Ottawa YMCA received a grant of $1,990,880 to build a new YMCA facility that will include a healthcare facility and classroom space. Ten other organizations throughout the state were also awarded grants to expand their businesses.

“The new YMCA will be a resource for our entire community to use for generations to come,” continued Yednock. “I am thankful to DCEO for awarding Ottawa YMCA this grant and I look forward to the future ribbon-cutting of the new facility.”
