ROCKFORD, Ill. – As part of his efforts to help keep money in the pockets of his constituents, state Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, is partnering with the Illinois Treasurer’s Office to host an I-Cash event.
“With many residents and businesses struggling to make ends meet, it is critical we explore all avenues to get them the relief they need,” said Vella. “While my office has helped return hundreds of thousands of dollars to constituents since the beginning of the year, there are still many individuals who have unclaimed funds available to them. I highly encourage residents to stop by my event and see if they can get some money returned to them.”
Vella will be hosting the I-Cash event on Satuday, October 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vella’s District Office, located at 4007 N. Mulford Road in Loves Park. At the event, attendees will be able to meet with a representative from the Treasurer’s Office to help them find unclaimed money being held by the state that is owed to them. Residents who are unable can find more information on I-Cash or check if they have unclaimed money by visiting the I-Cash website at icash.illinoistreasurer.gov.
Hosting the I-Cash event is just one way that Vella has worked to help provide financial relief to those in his district. This session, he helped pass legislation providing property tax relief to seniors. Vella also co-sponsored bipartisan legislation that decreases the annual registration fee for small trailers.
“After a year in which many residents have seen their financial situation worsen for reasons beyond their control, we must do everything we can to ease the burden they face,” said Vella. “Nothing is off the table when it comes to finding ways to support individuals and businesses in our community, and I will continue to work both in Springfield and in my district to get my constituents the relief they deserve.”
