DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – In honor of her continued advocacy on behalf of Illinois’ senior care facilities, state Rep. Anne Stava-Murray, D-Naperville, was recently awarded the “Voice of Senior Care Award” by the the Illinois Health Care Association (IHCA) at their annual conference.

“Senior care facilities, their residents and workers were some of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and as lawmakers, it’s our responsibility to ensure they have the resources they need,” said Stava-Murray. “Since coming into office, I have been committed to supporting legislation that ensures our older residents have access to quality and affordable care. I am grateful to have received this award from IHCA and will continue to work with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle on legislation that benefits seniors.”

During this past session, Stava-Murray introduced a measure to include quality metrics, like staffing levels and minimum wage adjustments to be integrated into the Medicaid reimbursement formula for nursing homes to provide higher quality care. Stava-Murray also supported legislation to lower prescription drug prices, ensured funding for Meals on Wheels and worked to ensure seniors in long term care facilities were not isolated from their loved ones during the pandemic.
