NAPERVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, D-Naperville, is hosting a diaper drive from Monday, Sept. 27 through Oct. 3 to benefit local families in need.
“Struggling with diaper needs and accessibility issues can cause many long-term, negative consequences for low-income families,” said Yang Rohr. “Diaper need can lead to increased health risks for babies and toddlers, and, oftentimes, quality child care facilities will not accept a child into their program if that child doesn’t have their own supply of diapers.”
National Diaper Need Awareness Week draws attention to the issue of diaper need in the U.S. A study conducted by the National Diaper Bank Network found that one in three U.S. families struggle to provide enough diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry and healthy. Yang Rohr is asking local residents to donate diapers of all sizes. Contact her office to arrange for donation drop-offs at her district office, located at 475 River Bend Rd., Suite 500, in Naperville. For a convenient contactless option, individuals can donate on-line via an Amazon Registry by visiting, tinyurl.com/DiaperDrive41.
“As a mother of three kids, I understand that there are countless, complex issues facing families today, but being able to afford necessary supplies for your child’s health should not be one of them,” said Yang Rohr. “I will continue to advocate for mothers and families in the legislation I support, and will work to provide necessary supplies to local families in need. I encourage all those who can to consider donating diapers during our supply drive.”
