Hernandez to Host Free Shred Day Event in Aurora

AURORA, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is partnering with the Aurora Public Library District and KCT Credit Union for a free community shred day on Saturday, Sep. 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Santori Library, located at 101 S. River St. in Aurora.

“Someone can steal your identity by using personal information on items such as old credit card statements, bank statements, medical records or pay stubs,” said Hernandez. “Shred days provide residents with an opportunity to properly dispose of documents and ensure that they do not fall into the wrong hands.”

Hernandez’s shred day is free of charge and available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis until the shred truck reaches capacity. Only paper materials will be accepted and small paper clips and staples do not need to be removed.

“Providing this service to residents helps provide peace of mind when it comes to disposing of old documents with personal or sensitive information,” said Hernandez. “I highly encourage anyone with paper clutter at home to take advantage of this opportunity to safely get rid of their unneeded documents.”
