Collins Stands in Solidarity with SEIU 73 Members Striking for a Fair Wage

CHICAGO – Continuing her efforts to stand in solidarity with workers and union rights, state Rep. Lakesia Collins, D-Chicago, joined Service Employees International Union Local 73 members in a strike to demand fair wages and health care premiums for Cook County front-line workers.

“Having a past as a healthcare worker and union organizer with SEIU, I stand with courageous Cook County workers who have placed their lives on the line for us throughout this pandemic and continue to do so. Our frontline workers deserve a fair contract that will recognize their seniority and will improve their work environment while implementing pathways to thrive. It’s our responsibility to ensure that every worker from the local level through the state level. Protect them. Pay them. Respect them.”
