ROCKFORD, Ill. – To begin his “Dave-on-Duty” business tour in which he will be visiting local businesses around his district, state Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, met with the President of Midwest Packaging Container, Inc, a manufacturing plant located in Machesney Park.
“After a year in which many businesses were hit hard by the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever that we are providing adequate support and resources to aid businesses in recovering,” said Vella. “As I visit with business leaders across my district this summer and beyond, hearing feedback on what they would like to see from state government is invaluable when it comes to shaping my legislative agenda. With the many benefits that local businesses provide our community, I will continue to fight in Springfield to ensure the needs of businesses are being met.”
Since entering the General Assembly earlier this year, Vella has worked to support businesses recover from the difficulties of the past year. He helped pass legislation cutting tax bills for businesses by allowing them to circumnavigate the State and Local Tax (SALT) cap. He also introduced legislation creating tax credits for businesses that create jobs in Illinois.
