ROCKFORD, Ill. – To help celebrate the re-opening of a local business, state Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Dairy Depot, an ice cream shop located in Loves Park.
“After a year that was extremely difficult for small businesses to stay afloat, it is critical that we all do our part in supporting our local small businesses to ensure we can help them recover and thrive,” said Vella. “As a small business owner, I know how important small businesses are to the local economy and how much they provide to residents. I look forward to working with small business owners across my district to ensure I am doing everything I can in Springfield to help make their lives easier.”
Attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Dairy Depot is just one way that Vella is working to support and celebrate small business owners in his district. During his time in Springfield earlier this year, he supported a number of pieces of legislation easing the burden on small businesses, including legislation allowing businesses to circumnavigate the State and Local Tax (SALT) cap, thereby cutting their tax bill. He also will be meeting with businesses throughout his district this summer in order to learn how he can most effectively advocate for their needs in Springfield.
