SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, has been named as Caucus Whip of the newly formed Moderate Caucus, which she helped establish and serves as co-chair, joining the leadership team of the Illinois House of Representatives.

“I am very honored to serve in this role and to work with my colleagues to advance a balanced agenda that will help the hard-working residents across the state of Illinois,” said Hurley. “Bringing together a group of like-minded legislators who share the same values helps add more perspective to a diverse caucus over the issues that families face on a daily basis.”

The Moderate Caucus was formed earlier this year from legislators across Illinois advocating for a balanced and steady approach to law making and addressing issues and policies that affect the everyday lives of the citizens. Their vision includes a state that can be improved upon that supports working families and to leave a stronger future for the next generation. Hurley was appointed as Caucus Whip by House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch to represent the Moderate Caucus in House Leadership.

“The Moderate Caucus seeks to provide solutions as we tackle the issues that will impact our state and residents for years to come, like building a stronger economy, strengthening education and access to health care, making our communities safer and supporting our union workers and first responders,” said Hurley. “My colleagues and I are ready to help solve our state’s problems in a balanced approach to make Illinois a better place to live and work in.”
