GURNEE, Ill. – State Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, is sharing an opportunity for newly vaccinated residents to get free tickets to Six Flags amusement parks.

“From very early on in this pandemic, we knew that developing vaccines and making them widely available would be our best path out of this crisis,” Mason said. “Thanks to the hard work of our scientific community, we now have an abundance of safe and effective vaccines available at a variety of locations throughout our community and state. I’m appreciative of Six Flags stepping up to encourage vaccine adoption as we look toward having a more normal summer.”

Last week, Gov. JB Pritzker visited Six Flags Great America to announce a state partnership with the theme park that pledges to give out 50,000 free tickets to Illinois residents who get vaccinated against COVID-19. The tickets can be used for admission to Six Flags’ Gurnee location as well as a Six Flags water park in Rockford. The state will be sending members of the Illinois National Guard to host a pop-up vaccination site at Six Flags Great America on June 5 and June 6 to promote the initiative. Six Flags Great America is located in Mason’s district, which covers suburban and rural areas in northeastern Lake County.

“This new partnership with Six Flags is a fun and effective way to get more residents vaccinated throughout our community, and it sets a good precedent about a return to normal for individuals who are already fully vaccinated,” Mason said. “After a difficult year, I’m excited to see visitors returning to Gurnee and being able to safely have fun again with more peace of mind.”
