ROCKFORD, Ill. – State Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, is highlighting today’s announcement from the Illinois based AAR Corp that United Airlines will be using its maintenance and overhaul facilities at Rockford International Airport (RFD) as their new maintenance hub for United’s Boeing 737 fleet through 2025.
“I appreciate all those who have helped the airport get to this point and to keep it as one of the premier economic drivers in the area,” said Vella. “This bipartisan effort to keep and grow jobs includes Mayor Thomas McNamara, State Representatives Maurice West & Joe Sosnowski, and Governor Pritzker, along with our local Congresspeople.”
This historic partnership between these two great Illinois companies will bring 250 new careers to the Rockford area. In addition, this collaboration will harvest a fresh partnership between local business and our local schools that will educate and train workers for full-time jobs with good wages and benefits.
“I ran for office to train our workforce for new economy jobs and to help our region to continue to be the business and manufacturing hub of the Midwest,” said Vella. “The pandemic has been hard for our area. This public-private partnership is another great step towards making sure that our community is prepared for good jobs now and in the future.”
