VILLA PARK, Ill. – In Illinois, over 300 people pass away each year waiting for an organ transplant. In an effort to save more lives, State Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, introduced legislation that will allow 16 and 17 year olds to become registered organ donors.
“When you have a family member in need of a lifesaving organ transplant, you quickly learn about all of the statistics. It’s a difficult road for families and some lose their battle waiting,” Conroy said. “House Bill 1805 will raise awareness about the importance of registering to be an organ donor by allowing young adults to make the decision to save lives.”
