OTTAWA, Ill. –  Working to inform local governments about offered grant opportunities, state Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, is recognizing Ottawa, Marseilles and Ladd for receiving over $1.5 million in grant money for local public infrastructure improvements.

“The Community Development Block Program will empower communities to not only improve and modernize our aging infrastructure – but to generate new, economic development opportunities that will bring workers back to the construction site and give companies modern infrastructure they can count on,” said Yednock “It’s encouraging to see Ottawa, Marseilles and Ladd for applying and receiving this much needed funding to help improve their communities.”

The Community and Development Block Program is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and are to be used for public infrastructure projects such as fixing sewage systems, roads, bridges, or any other aging infrastructure within the community. The City of Ladd will receive $550,000, City of Marseilles $538,724 and City of Ottawa $550,000, all for sewage system improvements.

“This grant money allows our local communities to make sure we are providing the best possible services to our residents without extending current local budgets,” said Yednock. “These types of grants will allow for real improvements to vital parts of our infrastructure and make for a safer and stronger region.”
