OTTAWA, Ill. – State Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, issued the following statement following Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s budget address on Wednesday:

“Illinois Valley small businesses and families need real relief right now. While the governor’s address is just a starting point, I will work with my colleagues, both Republican and Democrat, to develop a budget that meets the needs of working families and controls our state’s spending.

“As we discuss a fair and balanced budget for our state, we must recognize the priorities that must be addressed, including COVID-19 relief and testing, resources for essential workers, and the services and needs of veterans, especially those locally following the tragedy in LaSalle. The state must also prioritize affordable healthcare and mental health services, along with job training for adults returning to a new economy.

“Local families have to live within their means, and it’s about time that the state did the same. I look forward to working with my colleagues in a bipartisan way to craft a budget that prioritizes the true needs of the middle-class and working families in our state as we continue our recovery and build for a stronger future.”
