Moylan Applauds Investment in Small Business Support

DES PLAINES, Ill. – As a long time supporter and advocate for local businesses, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is highlighting a new state investment to help small businesses access COVID-19 relief.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy, and throughout this pandemic they have been struggling through no fault of their own,” Moylan said. “We have to commit to helping small businesses access benefits and relief during these trying times, which is why I am very glad to see this investment intended to do just that.”

Governor J.B. Pritzker recently announced that the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) will invest $3.4 million to expand community outreach initiatives and assistance programs through the Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) of Illinois. This investment is aimed toward helping more businesses access federal benefits including the renewed Payment Protection Program (PPP) and other forthcoming federal relief programs. “This investment, and further relief for small businesses must remain a top priority if we are to recover from the devastating economic fallout from the COVID-19 crisis,” Moylan said.
“We have made progress with the Business Interruption Grant (BIG) program and other efforts to provide financial relief to small businesses, but there are still many businesses who desperately need assistance. I will continue working to assist those small businesses in need to create jobs and stimulate the economic growth we need to recover from COVID-19.”
