SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado, D-Chicago, took the oath of office marking the start of a new term in the Illinois House and committing to focus on responsible budgeting to fund critical services, and pursue more ethical government.

Delgado released the following statement:

“I am so grateful and honored by the trust my neighbors have placed in me. Beginning my first full term means the opportunity to put the needs of constituents first and create effective changes to better the quality of life for the residents of our state.

“We as legislators can not hesitate to enact measures to help our families and communities recover from the setback of the ongoing pandemic. There will have to be tough budget decisions made to lay the foundation for a better future for Illinois and fund the services families depend on now more than ever. I am ready to work with my colleagues to do what is in the best interest of our citizens.

“In this term, I also want to continue to focus on ethics reform to ensure the job that we have been entrusted to do by the citizens of Illinois is done with integrity.

“I look forward to providing our community the tools and resources they need to help themselves and their families. This means improved access to healthcare services, better job training opportunities and innovative approaches to education.

“I am excited to work with legislators within the Democratic Caucus and across the aisle to ensure the people of Illinois get what they deserve from their Legislature. It won’t be easy but I stand ready to do the work for my community.”
