SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, released the following statement after beginning a new term as State Representative for the 62nd District Wednesday:
“It has always been with a great sense of honor that I swear the oath to serve our community. But this year in particular, as a global pandemic, the related fiscal challenges, and the need for renewed bipartisanship to replace the hateful politics flowing from Washington over the last four years, these words affirming my commitment to the people of our community and reflect the great trust they have placed in me mean even more.
“The pandemic has underscored how important the decisions we make in Springfield are, particularly as they relate to funding for critical services that are needed now more than ever, and access to health care. It has also sent a clear message that the property tax burden is unsustainable. It’s time for reforms that put taxpayers first, eliminate unnecessary units of government and deliver real relief.
“In the weeks and months ahead, our families will continue to face the challenges of COVID and members of the House will be tasked with facing the challenges facing the state. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to help our community emerge from these challenges stronger.”
Yingling will continue to represent the 62nd District, which includes areas of Grayslake, Gages Lake, Hainesville, Long Lake, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Park, Third Lake, and Wauconda.
