Slaughter to Host Webinar with Get Covered Illinois to Promote Health Insurance Open Enrollment Period

CHICAGO – To help local residents who are looking to enroll in health care coverage during the current open enrollment period for the Illinois health insurance marketplace, state Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is hosting a Get Covered Illinois webinar on Monday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m.

“While extreme politicians in Washington do everything they can to strip away health care coverage for millions of Americans, I recognize that access to health care is one of the most important issues facing our community today,” said Slaughter. “As we grapple with the devastating consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to make sure that Illinois residents are able to enroll in a quality health care plan that fits both their needs and their budget.”

Slaughter’s virtual event will feature information on how to navigate the health insurance marketplace and how to choose the right plan to suit one’s needs. Slaughter will be joined by representatives from Get Covered Illinois, the Department of Health and Family Services and the Department of Insurance. Webinar participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the event, but residents who will be unable to tune in are encouraged to visit GetCoveredIllinois.gov or call 866-311-1119 for individual assistance, frequently asked questions and other information. The open enrollment period for health care coverage in 2021 began on Nov. 1 and will continue through Dec. 15, 2020.

Residents also have the option to participate directly by joining the Zoom conference room through their computer or phone.
