BUFFALO GROVE – To help families safely celebrate Halloween, state Rep. Dan Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, is highlighting the Illinois Department of Public Health’s (IDPH) COVID-19 Halloween guidance.
“IDPH has developed Halloween safety recommendations to help keep both candy givers and trick-or-treaters safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Didech. “While it is understandable that many will want to continue observing annual traditions this Halloween, one of the safest way to observe the holiday is to stay home, share candy amongst your immediate family members and use social media to connect with family and friends.”
Didech is encouraging families who choose to trick-or-treat or participate in other in-person fall activities to adhere to IDPH guidance to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Recommendations include trick-or-treating only with members of the same household, washing your hands before eating any candy received from trick-or-treating and wearing a face covering under costume masks. Families are encouraged to review additional Halloween guidance at http://www.dph.illinois.gov/covid19/community-guidance/halloween-guidance.
“We must all continue to adhere to IDPH guidelines over the coming months to help ensure a safe and healthy holiday season,” said Didech. “The COVID-19 pandemic has affected nearly every aspect of our lives, and we must continue to take necessary precautions to keep ourselves, our families and our communities safe.”
