HILLSIDE, Ill. – State Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch, D-Hillside, is highlighting the upcoming open enrollment period for the Illinois health insurance marketplace.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has once again demonstrated the importance and necessity of quality and affordable health care coverage for people and families in Illinois,” Welch said. “Through the Get Covered Illinois marketplace, people can seek quality, affordable health coverage, explore financial assistance options and tax credits, and get assistance reviewing plans in order to make the best decisions for themselves and their family.”
The Get Covered Illinois marketplace, in partnership with Healthcare.gov, offers a range of health insurance plans that cover wellness services, rehabilitative services, preventative care, prescriptions, pregnancy care, mental health and emergency services. Covered health care also includes outpatient services, pediatric care for children including vision and dental care, laboratory tests, hospital stays, breastfeeding and birth control. Some plans also offer vision and dental care for adults.
Enrollment for health insurance plans that cover the calendar year 2021 begin on Nov. 1 and continue through Dec. 15. At GetCoveredIllinois.gov residents can connect to resources for individual assistance researching and selecting a plan and find answers to frequently asked questions. “Building a stronger Illinois means that we must ensure affordable, quality health care access for each and every Illinoisan. Get Covered Illinois goes a long way towards meeting that goal,” Welch said. “As we continue to live through this unprecedented public health emergency, health insurance coverage is necessary not just to help people in case they contract COVID-19, but to also promote general good health and well-being.”
