LOMBARD – State Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, will host a virtual community discussion on Wednesday to talk about New York Times best-selling author Jason Reynolds’ books on racism in America, continuing the important conversation begun by the Glenbard Parent Series event with the celebrated writer.
Reynolds is the author of All American Boys, the Track series, Long Way Down, For Everyone, and Miles Morales-Spiderman. His works for young adult and middle-grade audiences include Ghost, a National Book Award Finalist for Young People’s Literature.
“The Glenbard Parent Series will feature Jason Reynolds as their virtual guest speaker at their Community Read special event on Tuesday,” Costa Howard said. “Reynolds is one of the most thoughtful and best-loved authors of our time, and I think all of us could benefit from reading his books and grappling with his ideas. So I’m proud to participate in a panel discussion of his work Wednesday night, along with representatives from Peoples Community Church, the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn, and Glenbard District 87. I invite everyone to join us in this great virtual conversation.”
The Glenbard Parent Series event will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at www.cod.edu/GPS. Costa Howard’s virtual panel will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Please email Staff@reptch48.com to receive a link and login information to participate in the video conference.
