Moylan Announces Major Transportation Infrastructure Projects

DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is announcing several new projects set to improve the transportation infrastructure in Illinois’s 55th District over the next six years under the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) Rebuild Illinois initiative.

“The Rebuild Illinois program will give our transportation infrastructure a great deal of needed improvements which residents have wanted for a long time,” Moylan said. “Many of the repairs and modernization projects we will see thanks to Rebuild Illinois are long overdue, and I’m glad to see new investment in our community.”

The bipartisan Rebuild Illinois plan, administered by IDOT, is the largest infrastructure program in Illinois history. The plan will fund more than $45 million worth of transportation infrastructure improvement projects over the next six years within Illinois’s 55th district. With more than a dozen projects slated to begin next year, a few to highlight include $2.5 million in pavement preservation on Busse Rd. between Golf Rd. and Higgins Rd. in Elk Grove Village, and $3.1 million in intersection improvements and modernization at Northwest Highway and Mount Prospect Rd. in Des Plaines. Many additional infrastructure projects will occur over the next six years under Rebuild Illinois. A few of those projects include a $10.53 million bridge replacement on Rand Rd. at the Des Plaines River and a $2.6 million pavement rehabilitation project on Busse Highway between Miner St. and Dee Rd. in Park Ridge.

“These projects will greatly improve the safety, quality and efficiency of the transportation system in our district and across the state and bring many jobs to help stimulate the local economy,” Moylan said. “I am very excited for these improvement projects to begin and to see our state remain a major hub of transportation in America.”
