VILLA PARK, Ill. – As COVID-19 continues to impact local communities, state Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, is informing residents of a new Remote Patient Monitoring Program to allow sick patients to receive daily telehealth services through the new Virtual Care Program.

“As the data shows, the majority of people who are diagnosed with coronavirus have mild to moderate symptoms and are fortunately able to recover while self-isolating from home,” said Conroy. “Although these patients may not be in the hospital, they still deserve the quality care of medical professionals as they recover from their homes. Telehealth gives them that opportunity.”

Conroy encourages residents experiencing COVID-19 symptoms to take advantage of telehealth services which include daily virtual check ins and wellness kits that provide significant items like thermometers, alcohol wipes, masks and other medical equipment. Residents are eligible if they are showing symptoms and do not require hospitalization or are at a higher risk of being exposed to the virus. Telehealth services are provided in every region of the state and are available for anyone in the state, no matter what form of insurance they may have. For more information on the Virtual Care Program or how to access services, visit the Advocate Healthcare website at http://www.advocateaurorahealth.org/coronavirus-disease-2019 or call 866-443-2584.

“As our communities recover, these online services help reduce the community contact that occurs when a sick person visits a doctor’s office or hospital when they may not require it,” added Conroy. “As an advocate for telehealth and other services that help people access quality, accessible and affordable healthcare, I am grateful that telehealth is taking a central role in our state’s efforts to limit the spread of the virus.”
