ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – With new COVID-19 infection rates down, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is reminding residents of the move to Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan.
“With this move to Phase 4, Illinois is continuing to reopen due to the success of the stay-at-home order and residents taking the necessary precautions to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” Yingling said. “Residents have done a great job following safety protocols every step of the way, and the move to Phase 4 reflects that.”
Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan took effect on Friday, June 26. Under this new phase, restrictions on gatherings, childcare, schools and businesses will be altered. All employees of non-essential businesses are able to return to work with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) safety guidelines in place. Cinemas and theaters are able to reopen with capacity limits, and bars and restaurants can offer indoor dining with social distancing measures in place. Summer and child care programs can open, as well as non-essential gatherings of 50 or fewer.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yingling has worked to bring necessary resources and support to local communities to combat the virus. During session, Yingling voted to allocate hundreds of millions of new dollars to healthcare and to take additional steps to identify ways to lower healthcare costs. He also worked to bring immediate relief to residents impacted by the pandemic by expanding unemployment benefits and protecting essential workers who have contracted the virus through additional worker’s compensation benefits.
“As we continue to move forward in the Restore Illinois plan, it is important that residents are vigilant with their social distancing practices to decrease the spread of COVID-19,” Yingling continued. “I am proud of the progress the state has made over these past few months and the response from communities to protect our most vulnerable. I look forward to helping provide the support and resources necessary to continue this progress.”
