ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – With a strong desire to be open and accessible to all local residents, state Rep. Mike Halpin, D-Rock Island, is encouraging residents to visit his newly opened constituent service office on the second floor of the Rock Island County Building, located at 1504 3rd Avenue in Rock Island.
“I ran for state representative because I wanted to provide my community with outstanding constituent services and ensure that residents have the resources they need to navigate state programs,” Halpin said. “Whether it is a question about the status of their FOID card or an issue with a state agency, my office is open and ready to help with any question or concern we can.”
Halpin’s office is located in the same location as retired state Rep. Pat Verschoore’s office, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Staff will be available to help any area resident who needs assistance regarding state programs or agencies. Qualified seniors may visit Halpin’s office to complete and submit benefit access applications for ride free transit cards and reduced license plate stickers.
Halpin, who was sworn in as state representative earlier this month, is using his time away from the Capitol to meet with constituents and community groups to help him form a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the district.
“As state representative, I plan on being open and accessible to all residents in the district,” Halpin said. “It is my job to represent our community in Springfield and this is not a responsibility I take lightly. We must work together to craft solutions to fix the most pressing issues facing Illinois, and I am excited for the opportunity to work together.”
