CICERO, Ill. – State Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, D-Cicero, is highlighting the start of free COVID-19 testing at Access Hawthorne Family Health Center, located at 3040 S. Cicero Ave., scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27.

“I am glad to see the opening of this new location so more residents can access coronavirus testing,” said Hernandez. “Expanded testing is critical to understanding how COVID-19 spreads through our communities, so we can keep our health care system from being overwhelmed and better protect our most vulnerable.”

The testing site, located at 3040 S. Cicero Ave., will be open from 8 a.m. to noon daily. It is a free service that does not require a doctor’s referral or insurance, though testing is by appointment only. Individuals wishing to get tested should schedule an appointment by calling 708-780-9777.

Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms is encouraged to seek testing. Individuals with or without symptoms may also get tested if they are health care workers, first responders, a correctional center employee, exposed to confirmed COVID-19 patients, are a local or state government employee, have a compromised immune system, chronic medical conditions or support critical infrastructure (such as workers at grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, gas stations, public utilities, factories, child care and sanitation).

“If you have COVID-19 symptoms, or if your job requires face-to-face interaction with the public, please consider making an appointment to get tested,” said Hernandez. “Testing is free and now available locally, and it will help slow the spread of this virus.”
