AURORA, Ill. – As the year wraps up, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora is inviting local residents to her monthly coffee and conversation meeting on Friday, Dec. 20 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Jake’s Bagels, located at 220 N. Broadway in Aurora.

“As we prepare for the New Year, I want to make sure folks have the opportunity to discuss their priorities for our community in the coming year,” said Hernandez. “The 2020 legislative session is just around the corner, and it is important for residents to be able to express their concerns and share their ideas.”

Hernandez hosts coffee and conversation meetings every month to provide a casual way for residents in her district to ask questions and give feedback. During this month’s meeting, Hernandez will also be collecting donations for her winter clothing drive. Items needed include gently used or new hats, scarves, gloves, coats and sweatshirts. All donations will be given to two local food pantries, the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry and the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry. The coffee and conversation event is free and open to the public.

“These monthly coffee meetings allow me to build personal relationships with members of our community,” said Hernandez. “I hope that folks can stop by, get a cup of coffee, and share their thoughts and concerns.”
