Mason Prepares for Spring Session with Input from Environmental Advisory Council

GURNEE, Ill. –In anticipation of the upcoming legislative session, state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, met with members of her Environmental Advisory Council to discuss bill ideas at her district office in Gurnee.

“Over the past several months, I’ve been working with this council to examine environmental challenges facing our community. We’ve covered topics like erosion, at-capacity landfills and flooding—all issues that are directly impacting our region right now,” Mason said. “After a great deal of research and discussion, we’ve settled on a few key issues that we’ve concluded need attention most urgently, and I look forward to introducing legislation to address those items in the spring.”

During her first year in office, Mason championed several measures that strengthen environmental health and public safety, including her bill regulating ethylene oxide emissions and her measure bringing greater transparency to the process of nuclear power plant decommissioning.
