BELLEVILLE, Ill. – To thank the nurses, first responders and other essential workers fighting the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) health pandemic, state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea is highlighting National Nurses Week.

“Despite dangerous conditions, nurses and other medical care workers put themselves in harm’s way every day, especially as they work to keep our community safe during the COVID-19 health crisis,” said Hoffman. “I want to say thank you to the nurses, first responders and other healthcare workers that are fighting on the frontlines to protect our families.”

Hoffman is highlighting National Nurses Week to show his support for nurses and other healthcare workers during the COVID-19 health crisis, and is urging residents to abide by the governor’s extended stay at home order. The extended stay at home order lasts until May 30, requires residents to wear face coverings in public places where maintaining social distancing guidelines of six feet is difficult, like grocery stores, and calls on residents to continue staying home as much as possible.

“Our state has reached a critical point in the fight against COVID-19, so the best way to support our nurses and medical care workers during this time is to continue staying home and following new health recommendations as they arise,” continued Hoffman. “Together we can help save lives and show our appreciation for our healthcare workers by staying home.”
