GLENVIEW, Ill. – With COVID-19 safety precautions deeply impacting many aspects of everyday life, state Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz, D-Glenview , is celebrating the important milestones that many students did not get to experience to the fullest this year.
“Our students have an amazing can-do attitude, and are leading the way in showing us all what it means to put the ‘we’ before ‘me’,” Gong-Gershowitz said. “For many, spring means celebrating the end of the school year and coming together at graduation events and award banquets, final concerts or art shows, field trips, and the start of the outdoor athletic season. With many of the normal traditions on hold right now, we are all looking for ways to stay motivated, get connected and celebrate those important milestones that take on an even greater significance during these unprecedented times.”
Gong-Gershowitz has been celebrating students across her district by highlighting ways that they have been helping the community. Stories include high school students who have been picking up groceries for residents with mobility constraints, engineering students producing face shields for health care workers, and nutrition students working with volunteers to prepare free meals for community members. More information on these students and their stories can be found on Gong-Gershowitz’s website at www.gonggershowitz.com
“I would like to congratulate our graduates and wish them all the best in the future. Know that we understand and hurt with you as your high school career was impacted by something completely out of your control,” Gong-Gershowitz continued. “I look forward to a time when we can celebrate your accomplishments in person.”
