CHICAGO – Continuing to advocate for equitable access to higher education, state Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago, is co-leading a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Workshop with state Rep. Curtis Tarver, D-Chicago. The workshop, facilitated through ISACorps, will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dyett Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts, located at 555 E. 51st St.

“No young person should be subjected to years of financial debt in exchange for a college degree,” Buckner said. “That is why I wanted to organize this workshop with Rep. Tarver to help our communities navigate the FAFSA process. While there remains a lot of work to be done to ensure access to academia is truly equitable, this workshop can help students in our community obtain these cost-saving resources.”

Buckner and Tarver are gearing up to co-lead a workshop on free application for federal student aid (FAFSA), facilitated through ISACorps. The workshop aims to address a variety of issues regarding the FAFSA application. Guests who attend will learn more about the FAFSA process and how to fill out the paperwork. FAFSA consultants will be available to provide information on financing college and reviewing award letters. The event is free and open to the public.

“Financial aid can be an incredibly valuable tool for qualifying students to help them go to college and succeed in a competitive job market,” Buckner said. “In order to build a stronger Illinois, we must work to ensure that high school students, no matter where they come from, can access the resources they need to obtain a college degree.”
