OTTAWA – To help learn about the priorities and goals of Illinois Valley community leaders, state Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, attended a recent meeting in Peru of the North Central Illinois Council of Governments (NCIGG) to listen to what projects and plans are being prioritized for Illinois Valley families, businesses, and units of government, along with public transportation providers. The meeting focused on rural economic development and how utilizing rural public transportation can be a factor in job and economic growth in the Illinois Valley.
“The NCICG understands better than anyone how and when to apply for state and federal grants to help fund public infrastructure projects, sidewalk reconstruction projects, and many others to help improve our communities,” said Yednock. “Being able to hear more from these local leaders and professionals allows me to be the stronger voice possible as we continue to look at ways in Springfield to make our region safer and better.”
The North Central Illinois Council of Governments (NCICG) is a local group of community leaders that have been providing planning, technical assistance, and grant writing services to counties, townships, and communities in the Illinois Valley since 1979. The Council provides low-cost planning services to counties and communities and contract services to communities within the Illinois Valley and beyond. NCICG invited Yednock to a recent meeting to discuss relevant and time sensitive matters in the Illinois Valley.
