Yingling Offers Assistance to Businesses, Residents Affected During Closures

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – In an effort to preserve the health and well-being of the community, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is working to connect residents and small business owners with resources during the planned closures of restaurants and other establishments.

“These are tough times for everyone right now, but taking proactive steps like staying home, closing businesses, and yes, washing your hands often can be the difference between health and a hospital trip,” Yingling said. “I want residents to know that I am in contact with local health officials and the Illinois Department of Public health to keep our community up to date with accurate information about this ongoing situation.”

Yingling is highlighting programs that provide relief to residents without access to paid sick leave, or unable to work due to COVID-19 closures, such as unemployment insurance through the Illinois Department of Employment Security. State Unemployment Insurance is designed to replace lost wages when residents are out of work in situations like mandated business closures.
