Willis Talks Property Tax Relief Task Force, Anti-Vaping Efforts, Offers Congratulations to Sen. Pres. Don Harmon

NORTHLAKE, Ill. – State Rep. Kathleen Willis, D-Northlake, is highlighting efforts of the Property Tax Relief Task Force, measures to combat vaping among youth, and the election of state Sen. Don Harmon, D-Oak Park, as Senate President.

“The Property Tax Relief Tax Force is in the process of finalizing comprehensive recommendations on the most effective ways to reduce the property tax burden across the state,” Willis said. “For far too long, Illinois has placed a heavy burden on the middle class by having local school districts be primarily dependent on property tax revenues to fund their operations. This is something we are looking to address.”

Willis serves on the Property Tax Relief Task Force and is continuing to explore how to address the state’s property tax crisis by regularly meeting with experts and Democratic and Republican colleagues.

Willis is also working to protect young people from harmful vaping and tobacco-related products which reached unprecedented levels over the course of the last year.

“What we’ve seen with youth vaping over the last year is alarming and raises major concerns related to public health,” said Willis. “We must continue identifying methods to hold these predatory e-tobacco companies accountable for their actions, even if it means prosecution in the courts.”

State Sen. Don Harmon was elected to the Senate Presidency on Jan. 19. After hours of scrupulous deliberation, Sen. Harmon emerged victorious after garnering the support of the vast majority of the Senate.
