ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – To share new resources available for individuals experiencing emotional stress or trauma during the COVID-19 pandemic, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is highlighting the creation of the Illinois Department of Human Services’ (IDHS) newly established free emotional support textline Call4Calm.

“This is a difficult time for so many people right now with greater financial and emotional stress placed on the backs of Illinois residents. With such dramatic changes impacting all of our lives, it is only natural that some extra mental health support may be needed,” Yingling said. “To anyone struggling right not, please know that you are not alone. There are resources that are here to help, like this Call4Calm helpline.”

Yingling is highlighting the IDHS Mental Health Division’s new, free-of-charge emotional support textline Call4Calm. Residents experiencing stress or mental health issues related to COVID-19 can text “TALK” to 552020 to be connected with a mental health professional; individuals who would prefer to speak in Spanish can text “HABLAR” to the same number.

“There is no shame in seeking help during these times of great uncertainty,” Yingling continued. “Please take advantage of Call4Calm if you are experiencing mental health strain. At the end of the day, mental health is just as important as physical health. I applaud the creation of this new helpline and hope that more resources such as this will be made available.”
