GURNEE, Ill. – State Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, is sharing ways for community members to give back during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As unemployment claims reach record levels and more families find themselves in need of emergency assistance, many of the non-profits that usually provide those resources are being stretched thin,” said Mason. “Thankfully, there are still plenty of safe ways to continue supporting these organizations while still protecting yourself and those around you from COVID-19.”

Mason is directing residents who are interested in volunteering to visit www.lakecountyil.gov/4413/How-You-Can-Help for local opportunities and https://serveillinois.galaxydigital.com/ for statewide opportunities. For additional information, please contact Mason’s constituent service office by calling 847-485-9986 or emailing info@repjoycemason.com.

“If you’re not able to donate resources or volunteer in person, consider writing thank you cards or letters of encouragement to individuals who may be feeling especially stressed or isolated right now, such as health care workers, first responders or residents living in senior care facilities,” said Mason. “These are difficult times, but we can all make them a little easier by coming together and giving back where we can.”
