ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Wanting residents to keep more of their money during a crisis, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, is spreading awareness of the Friday deadline for residents to apply for Cook County property tax exemptions.

“If you have not yet applied for your property tax exemptions, now is the time to do it,” Walker said. “In times like these, even just a few extra dollars saved from these exemptions can make a positive difference.”

Walker has been a strong advocate for property tax relief, and has previously supported measures to make it easier for seniors to receive their exemptions every year through an automatic renewal process. Current exemptions include senior exemptions, persons with disabilities exemptions, veterans’ exemptions and more. More information regarding eligibility and reduction values can be found by visiting: https://www.cookcountyassessor.com/exemptions.

“I am proud to have stood up for property tax relief for our seniors and veterans,” Walker said. “I will continue to fight to curb skyrocketing property taxes weighing on the backs and wallets of our middle class.”
