CHICAGO – To ensure public health and safety of the community, state Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is urging residents to take precautionary steps to protect themselves and their community from COVID-19 by following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

“We must all do our part in preventing spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus,” said Slaughter. “I encourage folks to stay informed on the latest news and precautionary measures by referring to the Illinois Department of Public Health’s website and following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations.”

Slaughter is urging community members to review CDC recommendations by visiting https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/. Residents can also stay informed on the latest developments with the COVID-19 coronavirus by reviewing information provided on the state’s new website, http://coronavirus.illinois.gov, or by calling the IDPH COVID-19 hotline at 1-800-889-3931 or email dph.sick@illinois.gov with questions.

“Prevention is key to protecting ourselves and our loved ones from COVID-19, and that it why it is so important to follow CDC and IDPH guidelines,” Slaughter said. “As information changes, it is important to stay up-to-date with the latest information and prevention measures in order to keep our communities safe.”
