“Maintaining secure and reliable elections is one of the most critical parts of my role as a representative,” Pappas said. “I’m committed to making sure that elections, the foundation of our democracy, aren’t tampered with, and this legislation is a great step forward.”
Continuing her work for a more fair and accountable government, Pappas introduced House Bill 4559, which exempts records detailing cybersecurity measures and anti-election tampering measures from FOIA requests. This legislation is in response to the growing threat of foreign interference in American elections, and is an attempt to prevent bad actors from breaching election security and altering voting data.
“I will work to combat and prevent interference with our electoral process in every form,” Pappas said. “Our community deserves a safe voting process that will not only deliver fair results, but keep their personal information private. The way forward to a stronger Illinois starts with a government people can trust.”
