SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Debbie Meyers-Martin, D-Olympia Fields, issued the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s budget address on Wednesday:

“As we begin a new budget process, we must prepare for the difficult decisions that will need to be made in order to create a plan that moves Illinois forward. We must work together to pass a bipartisan, balanced budget that funds the resources our families need while putting our state on stable financial footing.

“I am committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure funding for the critical services our residents rely on, such as senior care, breast cancer screenings and early childhood education while continuing to make full pension payments and addressing our backlog of bills.

“I am confident that by working together and gathering input from residents and stakeholders, we can successfully create a budget that reflects our shared values and lifts up our communities. I look forward to continuing to build a stronger Illinois that works for all residents.”
