SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Carol Ammons, D-Urbana, released the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s budget address on Wednesday:

“After many years of economic instability, Illinois made significant progress in the last year through investments in education, high-wage job training programs and new public works projects to repair our state’s aging infrastructure. At the same time, we took necessary steps to pay down a large portion of old bills.

“This is the approach we must continue to take moving forward. We must invest in our children and make it possible for them to afford college in our state, continue to prioritize programs that increase economic opportunity for working families, improve care for our most vulnerable and keep our communities safe and healthy.

“It will take hard work and difficult decisions to address Illinois’ fiscal challenges, but I trust Gov. Pritzker to lead the way.”
