SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, released the following statement in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s budget address to the General Assembly on Wednesday:

“I’m committed to building a stronger Illinois, and I will continue to fight to combat the challenges facing our community. While the governor’s budget is a first step, there is a lot of work to be done. It’s crucial we stay focused on the big issues such as paying down old bills, meeting our obligations to pensions, properly funding our schools, and living within our means.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues and with Governor Pritzker to pass an on-time, balanced budget that reflects these commitments, while also continuing the push for innovative job training programs, affordable health care, and property tax relief.”
