SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Fred Crespo, D-Hoffman Estates, released the following statement following Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s budget address:
“Over the last year, we’ve made great strides to move Illinois forward and in order to build on that progress we must continue working constructively to address the issues facing middle-class families in our state. Tough decisions will have to be made in order to continue paying down the last administration’s debts; meeting our pension obligations to improve Illinois’ credit standing; and increasing our financial commitment to our local schools so they can adequately educate our students and become less dependent on property taxes.
“This is a critical first step in the right direction. As a member of the budget working groups, I’m ready to begin our bipartisan work in the legislature to pass a balanced budget that puts the priorities of seniors and the middle class first.”
