Didech Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence, Backs Bipartisan Task Force

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – State Rep. Daniel Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, is backing bipartisan legislation to create the Domestic Violence Task Force aimed at analyzing current Illinois statute in order to create effective policy solutions to better support victims and survivors of domestic violence.

“The devastating reality is that domestic violence continues to cause profound suffering and trauma in the lives of many Americans, especially women and children,” said Didech. “That is why I supported this bipartisan measure to create a task force to help advocate for victims and survivors of domestic violence.”

Didech is sponsoring House Bill 4262, which would create the Domestic Violence Task Force in Illinois to conduct a comprehensive review of the process, operation, and enforcement of current domestic violence laws across the state. The Task Force would be required to submit a report to the Governor and the General Assembly with the findings of their review. According to the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ILCADV), one in three women and one in seven men will experience domestic violence in their lives.

“Although this is a great step forward, I recognize that there remains a lot of work to be done to support victims and survivors,” Didech said. “By backing this task force, it is my hope that we can work together across the aisle to create meaningful solutions to truly address domestic violence.”
