Mussman, Moylan Invite Women to Career Skill-Building Workshop

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. – To help local women learn more techniques for salary negotiation and other career building skills, state Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg, and state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines are partnering with Women Employed to host a Career Skill-Building Workshop.

“Illinois has become a leader in supporting working women by banning employers from using past salary history to determine pay, a practice that historically locked women into career-long wage inequity,” said Mussman. “While this new law will help protect women from discriminatory practices, developing a strong salary negotiation strategy is also important, as women are often paid less than men even in their first jobs.”

Mussman and Moylan are partnering with Women Employed to host a Career Skill-Building Workshop on Monday, March 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Elk Grove Village Public Library, located at 1001 Wellington Ave. Local women are invited to learn more about developing a successful salary negotiation strategy, the new No Salary History law that recently took effect and more information on the gender wage gap.

“Working women face many challenges, including pay inequity,” continued Mussman. I encourage local working women to stop by my Career Skill-Building Workshop to learn more about salary negotiation and how to be confident and demonstrate your worth in the workplace.”

Mussman represents the 56th District, which contains portions of Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Roselle, Rolling Meadows and Palatine.
